Soothing
“Soothing” is a minimalist story about a woman. The author unconventionally reduces the female form to a maximally simplified figure with an oversized eye, focusing on line and shape instead of detail.
The geometric representation of the body emphasizes individual anatomical elements, such as the hips and waist, but does so in a way that is more reminiscent of sculptural deconstruction than a traditional portrait.
The color palette used, with a dominance of pink and subtle beiges, may suggest delicacy and femininity, which is an interesting contrast to the mechanically precise lines that may symbolize a more austere, technical approach to depicting the human form.
The titular soothing is an attempt to present a woman who takes care of herself. Taken care of herself, in a safe, comfortable position for herself, at the right time, in favorably soothing conditions, in her own company, she finds a sense of security.
