Full immersion
“Full Immersion” by Magdalena Nowatkowska provides additional layers in the context of exploring boundaries by the artist. Similar to “Immersion,” “Full Immersion” is characterized by a minimalist approach to form and color, which is distinctive for this series of Magdalena’s works.
The composition of the painting focuses on a thoughtful interplay of geometric shapes and a limited color palette. The central part of the image, the space of immersion, is surrounded by multicolored lines and shapes, which can be interpreted as symbolic constraints or frames defining this immersion.
Here, the presence of a human is almost omitted. Above the surface of the water, the artist exposes the characteristic long hair of the female figures in her series, suggesting an even deeper, more abstract sinking into meditation, cleansing, renewal, and introspection into one's thoughts and emotions.
The strict boundaries of the composition, the geometric grid, are an attempt to seek order in the chaos of emotions and thoughts. As a result, the work tells a story of tranquility, a sense of security, and the most pleasant state of being alone with oneself. It's a subtle dialogue with the viewer about the nature of boundaries and what lies beyond them.
