Signals of Presence
“Signals of Presence”. Small, vertical signs in muted colours – brown and pastel green – appear on a bright, white background. Four of them form a linear arrangement on the right side of the canvas. The fifth, as if separated and lonely, is on the left side. Despite its minimalist form, the painting carries a clear tension, hidden in subtle shifts, colour and rhythm of repetition.
In the series “Limits”, the artist uses the language of silence and symbol. Each sign can be a representation of a person, presence, voice or emotion. The figures, which are close to each other, create a collective arrangement – perhaps a group, community, some kind of community. The spaces between them are equal, there are no very close relationships here. Each form retains its identity.
On the left side, a solitary sign breaks the rhythm. Separated, it indicates exclusion, separateness or autonomy. It can also be a symbol of opposition to the group, rejection, misunderstanding – or a conscious act of departure.
The seemingly simple form of the painting becomes a space for intense reflection on identity and belonging Over loneliness. It fits into the entire series as another part of an intimate dialogue with the viewer – about where the “I” begins and the “we” ends.
