Deep water
Here the artist explores the relationship between human form and space. Between what is found and what can still be experienced. The arrangement of figures on a neutral, blue, calm background brings to mind the dispersion of individuals in an infinite space. The sea? The ocean? This is a metaphor for a great test. Scattered figures. Calm water. A bit of chaos or a sense of being lost, but in a quite friendly space.
The title “Deep Water” refers to the challenges we encounter. The boundaries that we usually push, try to change, wanting to experience something new, better. This is a metaphorical immersion in the new. In new emotions, situations, full of excitement and a bit of uncertainty.
The figures are simplified and reduced to lines and basic shapes, and their geometric form breaks with naturalism to some extent, making them universal representations of the human individual. Objects without the details characteristic of humans. Various poses emphasize the dynamics of movement, as well as various emotional and physical states, such as tension, relaxation or effort. There is a certain order in this chaos. There is a place for everyone, everyone has their own space. Everyone can be themselves and take it in their own way. They can be an individual in a crowd.
Figures, boundaries and space create a dynamic dialogue at the same time. The artist places a person between what they know and the possibility of experiencing the unknown. She explores the spaces between what is personal and what is common, between movement and stability, freedom and limitation, fear and courage.
