Deep water
Here, the artist explores the relationships between the human form and space—between what is already present and what has yet to be experienced. The arrangement of figures on a neutral, light-blue, tranquil background evokes the image of individuals dispersed in an infinite space—perhaps the sea or the ocean. It is a metaphor for a great test or challenge. Scattered figures. Calm waters. A touch of chaos or a sense of being lost, yet in a rather welcoming environment.
The title “Deep Water” refers to the challenges we encounter and to the boundaries we usually try to push, aiming to effect change in pursuit of something new, something better. It is a metaphorical immersion into the new—new emotions, new situations, filled with excitement and a little uncertainty.
The figures are simplified and reduced to lines and basic shapes. Their geometric form departs somewhat from naturalism, making them universal representations of the human individual—objects devoid of the characteristic details of the human figure. Their varied poses emphasize the dynamism of movement and highlight different emotional and physical states such as tension, relaxation, or effort. Amid this chaos, there is a certain order. There is room for everyone; each individual has their own space. Everyone can be themselves and occupy this space in their own way, maintaining individuality even in a crowd.
Figures, boundaries, and space simultaneously create a dynamic dialogue. The artist places the human being between what is familiar and the possibility of experiencing the unknown. She explores the realms between what is personal and what is shared, between movement and stillness, freedom and limitation, fear and courage.
