Blue flight
“Blue Flight” is a minimalist yet highly evocative composition that carries far more emotion and meaning than it might reveal at first glance. The work belongs to the “Limits” cycle, in which the artist consistently explores the relationship between the individual and the world, as well as inner limitations and points of contact in human experience.
The dominant pastel blue background creates a calm, almost boundless space. At its center stand two vertical figures—one in deep wine-red, the other in white. Though simplified almost to the form of signs, they bear anthropomorphic qualities. Their upper parts resemble hearts—one whole, the other cut through by an opening, as if lacking something or open to something.
The dark and light figures interpenetrate—they are simultaneously close and apart. Their juxtaposition may symbolize the relationship of two people who, while coexisting within the same space, preserve their individuality. The frames enclosing them do not restrict them literally but rather provide a symbolic context—social, psychological, or emotional boundaries.
The painting seems to ask: can a true bond exist only when each side has the space for its own flight?
