Phantoms I
“Phantoms I” is characterized by a vast expanse of solid, intensely green background, within which red marks, signs, or disturbances can be seen. They are irregularly arranged, creating a sense of transience and randomness in their presence.
The emptiness dominating the upper part of the painting contrasts with the accumulation of signals at the bottom, highlighting the tension between presence and absence. The arrangement of these traces introduces movement—as if the elements are slowly disappearing or just beginning to emerge, evoking the impression of immaterial, fleeting forms.
The green background is deep and almost hypnotic. It evokes associations with nature and calmness, but also mystery and the unexpected. Against this backdrop, the red marks become vivid, dynamic focal points. Red, as a color of life, energy, and warning, creates a striking contrast with the background’s harmony and balance.
The use of these two colors generates a sense of tension between something real and something undefined or immaterial.
These are traces of invisible entities—echoes of a presence that cannot be seen, but that left behind a mark. Something that passed by, vanished, yet remained in someone’s memory.
It is a story about the boundary between reality and what is hidden or intangible. The titular phantoms are traces of thoughts, memories, energy…
